Ever wonder what the iPhone would look like with a dash of color? Dutch industrial designer Martin Hajek created a series of stunning images that visualize a colorful budget iPhone with rounded corners.

Hajek — who originally created the images for Dutch Web site iPhoneClub — based his vision of the budget iPhone on consistent rumors that Apple could debut a colorful low-end version of the smartphone (with a mixture of fiberglass and plastic casing) alongside the expected iPhone 5S reveal this summer.

Japan Display shows low-power reflective LCD that does color, video

DNP Japan Display shows lowpower reflective 'paper' display fast enough for video

Seen any color video in your e-reader lately? Us neither, and Japan Display wants to change all that with a new reflective, paper type LCD capable of the feat that burns very little juice, to boot. To pull it off, the prototype uses a so-called light control layer, allowing it to collect rays and bounce them toward your eyes, exactly like plain old analog paper. The consortium developed a low color fidelity version with five percent NTSC coverage and a bright 40 percent reflection, along with a dimmer version carrying a third less reflectivity but a more faithful 36 percent hue gamut. The latter still needs some tweaking, according to Japan Display, but the more reflective version is now good to go for production, meaning it might start popping up in new readers imminently. For more info, check the video after the break.

B&N drops prices on Nook Tablet and Nook Color

Now that Barnes & Noble’s new $ 199 Nook HD tablet is starting to ship to customers, the company has lowered the prices on last year’s Nook Tablet models to $ 179 (16GB) and $ 159 (8GB) and reduced the price of its entry-level Nook Color to $ 139.

It’s unclear how long Barnes & Noble will keep these models on the market, but it appears they will be sold through the holiday buying season.

In the past you could get refurbished versions of these same models for similar prices. When it was originally launched in late 2011, the 16GB Nook Tablet retailed for $ 249 (it has 1GB of RAM). Amazon then brought out the original Kindle Fire for $ 199 (8GB) and Barnes & Noble followed up with the 8GB Nook Tablet, which has less RAM (500MB).
