A tweet has brought some refreshing news from the Fiat USA’s official Twitter account. The US subsidiary of the popular automaker announced their plans for the LA Auto Show by hinting at the arrival of a North America-specific 2013 500 Abarth.

We don’t expect too much of a difference in this Abarth edition compared with the European version of the same vehicle. The standard Euro-spec version comes equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine which motivates up to 140 PS (138 bhp / 103 kW) and 206 Nm (152 lb-ft) of torque.

But we have no official word from the Fiat subsidiary on whether the Euro-spec configurations will be imitated by the Abarth when it lands stateside. There are chances that this one could be a unique American edition.

We can anticipate the Fiat 500 Abarth to debut around late 2012 and go on sale for a starting price of around $19,000.
